Are you finding yourself in a creative rut? Wake up your photography and breathe life back into your senior sessions! Stop worrying about only capturing the perfectly posed shots and start looking for the raw and real moments happening in the in-between. Join High School Senior Photographer Holli True as she demonstrates how to capture a mix of beautifully composed candids and perfectly posed portraits. Build a connection with your clients that will unveil their true, uninhibited, authentic beauty. This program will be broken into two segments.

The first half of this program will be a mix of shooting demonstration by Holli and Q&A. You will see how she engages and connects with the models and watch as they morph from reserved and uncertain to uninhibited and free. Holli will show how she works through the ice-breaker stage of a session and earns their trust through praise, encouragement and engagement. She will also demonstrate how to get your subject moving and how to inspire candid expressions and laughter, followed by ways to mix in beautiful, posed portraits. Holli will be shooting with a 50mm & 85mm lens, utilizing a silver/white reflector.

For the second half of the program, attendees will break into small groups to photograph the models individually. This is the perfect opportunity to capture gorgeous images for your portfolio and put into practice everything you have learned! Holli will be moving between each of the groups, providing feedback and coaching. Each attendee will walk away with beautiful images and a clear understanding of how to better connect with their client and capture a well-rounded portfolio, full of movement, a range of expressions and life.

Because attendees will be shooting in groups, they are advised to bring a lens with a focal length of 50mm or higher.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn how to engage with your clients to get them to open up and come alive in front of your camera.
2. See simple ways to get your clients moving and having fun during a shoot, creating candid and raw moments and not stiff posing.
3. Learn how to mix beautifully composed candids with perfectly posed portraits.

Location:
This outdoor Boutique Program will take place around Pike Place Market, the Gum Wall and Post Alley, and/or the waterfront.

This urban area provides a lot of opportunities for interesting backgrounds and is only a few blocks away from the Westin. Pike Place Market is a busy urban market that is an iconic tourist destination. The Gum Wall and Post Alley provide interesting urban street scenes, as well as great color and texture. Beyond the Market, Gum Wall, and Post Alley, your group may venture down to the waterfront. The waterfront boardwalk area is a lovely place for capturing scenic shots of the sky, cityscape, and the ferris wheel. Please note that there are many steps required to get from the market to the waterfront. There is a small elevator available. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to walk to Pike Place Market from the Westin, and the waterfront is an additional 10 minutes beyond the Market. To return to the Westin from the waterfront at the conclusion of the program (remember this walk is uphill), please budget 20-25 minutes.
