Multiple Styles, One Family (Jennifer Kielich) FULL

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity full

Learn to infuse multiple photography styles into one family session. With proper planning and an efficient workflow, you can capture both traditional portraiture and more documentary imagery to give your clients a variety of shots. Toggling back and forth between candid and posed moments will keep your clients interested and prevent small children from getting bored. It will also force you to think outside the box! We will be using a styled model family of 3-5 members, with children ranging from 1-5 years old. The class will begin with a short introduction and a brief shooting demonstration. We will then begin shooting our model family and discuss workflow, posing techniques, and camera settings as we move along. Attendees should have experience shooting in manual mode. Please bring your camera and your favorite wide angle and/or portrait lenses.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn how to properly plan your poses/workflow so that your session runs smoothly. The session should take an hour or less, because small children won't last much longer than that.
2. Learn how to communicate with the family so they understand what you are asking of them. Going back and forth between smiling at the camera and ignoring the camera can be confusing without clear instruction from the photographer.
3. Learn which poses work and which ones don't when you're infusing more than one style into the session.
4. Learn how to navigate your camera's settings to ensure you are getting proper exposure and are avoiding motion blur. This can be tricky as you go back and forth between candid and posed shots. The settings themselves have a "workflow" all their own!

Location:
This outdoor Boutique Program will take place at Westlake Park and/or the streets around the Westin and Westlake Center Mall.

Westlake Park and the streets around the Westin and Westlake Center Mall will provide an urban background without venturing too far. It takes approximately 3-5 minutes to travel to these locations.
