Limited Capacity filling up

Shooting for magazines often comes with many obstacles, but the largest obstacle often is budget. Both beginning photographers and experienced pros must overcome the same challenges when addressing location, lighting and subjects. This course is your introduction to the skills you need to plan and execute a magazine style shoot; from makeup and styling to crazy locations, we'll get our hands dirty with a fun and creative set. This course will help you create a short editorial story which will demonstrate that often location isn't everything. Shooting hand-on with an agency model, we'll shoot on-location, creating a beautiful magazine-style set of images. Often the eye can be tricked with some low budget tricks, and Instructor Courtney Dailey will share some of her secrets to shooting in the toughest locations. By the end of this class, you’ll be ready to plan your own editorial magazine shoot! Students must be comfortable working outdoors and shooting in manual or aperture priority mode.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn creative location solutions.
2. Learn how to plan magazine stories.
3. Understand makeup and styling ideas.
4. Plan shots and pose models to help move a story forward.

Location:
This outdoor Boutique Program will take place around Pike Place Market, the Gum Wall and Post Alley, and/or the waterfront.

This urban area provides a lot of opportunities for interesting backgrounds and is only a few blocks away from the Westin. Pike Place Market is a busy urban market that is an iconic tourist destination. The Gum Wall and Post Alley provide interesting urban street scenes, as well as great color and texture. Beyond the Market, Gum Wall, and Post Alley, your group may venture down to the waterfront. The waterfront boardwalk area is a lovely place for capturing scenic shots of the sky, cityscape, and the ferris wheel. Please note that there are many steps required to get from the market to the waterfront. There is a small elevator available. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to walk to Pike Place Market from the Westin, and the waterfront is an additional 10 minutes beyond the Market. To return to the Westin from the waterfront at the conclusion of the program (remember this walk is uphill), please budget 20-25 minutes.
