In this shooting demonstration with a family, see how to help guide your clients into a pose, then capture those real moments when the pose falls apart. Attendees will learn how to photograph authentic portraits with connection, and capture real emotions and interactions between subjects. I will demonstrate how to pose a family, as well as share tips on how to look for details that show their connections and real emotions, not just images where everyone is looking at the camera. Students will see the typical family session flow that I follow and hear how I interact with the family to get real and authentic expressions and emotions. We will discuss lens choice, aperture selection and perspectives, as well as how to create a more artistic portrait.

Attendees should have an understanding of the exposure triangle and be comfortable shooting in manual. Attendees should bring gear they would use at a regular shoot. In between poses, I will ask attendees if anyone would like the opportunity to shoot.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn family posing tricks.
2. Understand how to connect with your clients to capture true emotion.
3. Take portraits that are filled with connection between the subjects and the viewer.

Location:
This outdoor Boutique Program will take place at Seattle Center.

The Seattle Center requires a brief ride (approximately 2-3 minutes) on a nearby monorail train that runs on a loop and departs approximately every 10 minutes from the Westlake Center Mall (across the street from the Westin). Travel time can range from approximately 15-24 minutes, depending on group size, how quickly the group moves, and how quickly the group can board the monorail. The Seattle Center is massive with tons of usable shooting space, from green park-like areas to funky walls and sculptures. The Space Needle is located within the Seattle Center. Attendees in programs taking place at the Seattle Center will be provided a round trip ticket for the monorail at the beginning of the program. The group will travel together to the Seattle Center. After the program concludes, attendees may travel back to the Westin at their leisure.
