How to Successfully Coordinate and Execute a Senior Group Shoot (Holli True)

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

The idea of planning and preparing for a styled shoot can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be! Join High School Senior Photographer Holli True as she explains how to turn a simple idea into a successful portrait campaign that will get your photography business recognized. This program will be taking place on-location in natural light and will be broken into three segments.

During the first segment, Holli will walk you through her session workflow while photographing a group, capturing multiple breakdowns and working with senior models individually. You'll learn how to build an editorial story through cohesive styling, choosing the right locations and shooting with purpose. Holli will be shooting with a 50mm & 85mm lens, utilizing a silver/white reflector.

The second segment will consist of Holli posing the senior models as a group for the attendees to photograph. The goal is for every attendee to walk away with images for their portfolios. In order for this to happen, it is vital that everyone quickly get their shots and then switch places with other attendees to do the same.

For the third and final segment of this program, attendees will have the opportunity to photograph the models individually in small shooting groups. This is the perfect opportunity to capture gorgeous images for your portfolio and put into practice everything you have learned! Holli will be moving between each of the groups, providing feedback and coaching. This packed program will conclude with a short Q&A session.

Because attendees will be shooting in groups, they are advised to bring a lens with a focal length of at least 50mm for the group shots and 85mm for the individual portraits.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn how to build a styled concept shoot from an idea to execution, create an editorial story, and style cohesively as a group while maintaining the individuality of the models.
2. Learn to choose the right locations that fit the concept and will give you a variety of options when there are limitations (limited space, traffic, distractions).
3. Create a session workflow.
4. Photograph seniors as a large group, smaller group, and individuals while shooting with purpose for your brand, marketing and sales.
5. Capture both editorial and sellable portraits.

Location:
This outdoor Boutique Program will take place at Seattle Center.

The Seattle Center requires a brief ride (approximately 2-3 minutes) on a nearby monorail train that runs on a loop and departs approximately every 10 minutes from the Westlake Center Mall (across the street from the Westin). Travel time can range from approximately 15-24 minutes, depending on group size, how quickly the group moves, and how quickly the group can board the monorail. The Seattle Center is massive with tons of usable shooting space, from green park-like areas to funky walls and sculptures. The Space Needle is located within the Seattle Center. Attendees in programs taking place at the Seattle Center will be provided a round trip ticket for the monorail at the beginning of the program. The group will travel together to the Seattle Center. After the program concludes, attendees may travel back to the Westin at their leisure.
