Limited Capacity filling up

Whether you travel a few streets over, or halfway around the world, using careful observation of light and composition to inform your approach to imagery will allow you to create photographs that capture the sensation of actually standing in a location. In this session, Megan will discuss how to find and employ several light, composition and shooting techniques that will take your travel imagery to the next level. Participants should be comfortable shooting in manual mode and consider themselves an intermediate or above skill level. Bringing a camera and lens/es that will allow for creative composition of outside scenes is encouraged.

This class will cover:
-Learning to see the edges of light
-Identifying contrasts in light and composition that will elevate imagery
-Finding framing elements to control viewer experience
-How to experiment with purposeful lack of focus

Location:
This outdoor Boutique Program will take place around Pike Place Market, the Gum Wall and Post Alley, and/or the waterfront.

This urban area provides a lot of opportunities for interesting backgrounds and is only a few blocks away from the Westin. Pike Place Market is a busy urban market that is an iconic tourist destination. The Gum Wall and Post Alley provide interesting urban street scenes, as well as great color and texture. Beyond the Market, Gum Wall, and Post Alley, your group may venture down to the waterfront. The waterfront boardwalk area is a lovely place for capturing scenic shots of the sky, cityscape, and the ferris wheel. Please note that there are many steps required to get from the market to the waterfront. There is a small elevator available. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to walk to Pike Place Market from the Westin, and the waterfront is an additional 10 minutes beyond the Market. To return to the Westin from the waterfront at the conclusion of the program (remember this walk is uphill), please budget 20-25 minutes.
