Lesley is sponsored by Color Inchttp://www.colorincprolab.comDiscouraged by a lack of places to shoot? Life can be so busy that it is hard to be creative when you are on the go. Feeling lost on what to capture in places both familiar and new? Join me! During this class we will engage our senses to capture the world around us. In the chaos of a large metropolitan city it is easy to end up with the photographs of a typical tourist. Our senses can play such a role in the art we create. By using them intentionally you will find more purpose in your work. Enhance your journey by tapping into what your feelings for the place you are in. This motivates you to turn your images into more meaningful art. This class is for anyone looking for deeper meaning and inspiration through photography while traveling both locally, and on the road. Bring to light what you already unconsciously use by being more purposeful in your work.
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn how to purposefully incorporate your senses into your work.
2. Understand how your emotions play a part in your work.
3. Learn to use your sixth sense to break away from the crowd.
4. Create an awareness of your surrounding that embraces your emotions.
5. Gain an understanding of how to respectfully shoot when things aren't so pretty around us, but the story should be captured.
6. Leave with an understanding of how this thought process will enhance your work.
7. See how to not always end up with the iconic images even when shooting in the iconic spots.
8. Gain confidence to shoot anywhere, and why this matters.
9. Learn travel photography tips.
Location:
This outdoor Boutique Program will take place around Pike Place Market, the Gum Wall and Post Alley, and/or the waterfront.
This urban area provides a lot of opportunities for interesting backgrounds and is only a few blocks away from the Westin. Pike Place Market is a busy urban market that is an iconic tourist destination. The Gum Wall and Post Alley provide interesting urban street scenes, as well as great color and texture. Beyond the Market, Gum Wall, and Post Alley, your group may venture down to the waterfront. The waterfront boardwalk area is a lovely place for capturing scenic shots of the sky, cityscape, and the ferris wheel. Please note that there are many steps required to get from the market to the waterfront. There is a small elevator available. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to walk to Pike Place Market from the Westin, and the waterfront is an additional 10 minutes beyond the Market. To return to the Westin from the waterfront at the conclusion of the program (remember this walk is uphill), please budget 20-25 minutes.
