Limited Capacity filling up

Bre is sponsored by Miller's Professional Imaging

In this class we will discuss how you can take a posed portrait and craft moments through interaction, playfulness, and movement. Our clients won't magically laugh, play, and show their emotions as soon as they stand in front of our camera so it's our job to coax those things out of them. By getting comfortable with our clients, we allow them to relax and have fun. "You really say that to your clients?" Heck yes! Bre will show you how she jokes and laughs with subjects to break down walls, allowing her to photograph sweet, playful moments instead of forced, stiff poses. Bre will begin by posing the models, explaining how we plan to "un-pose" them, and allow all attendees to shoot. Our models will be a real family, but these methods can be applied to nearly any subject. Because authentic moments happen quickly, attendees need to be prepared to shoot quickly. Having a range of lenses (ideally a long lens, like an 85/100/135/70-200) will help you capture shots even among a group of other attendees.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn how to create portraits that are authentically relaxed and playful.
2. Learn how to "un-pose" by creating a pose and then focusing on connection/the moment through humor and movement.
3. Learn how to comfortably move through a session and interact with your clients.

Location:
This outdoor Boutique Program will take place around Pike Place Market, the Gum Wall and Post Alley, and/or the waterfront.

This urban area provides a lot of opportunities for interesting backgrounds and is only a few blocks away from the Westin. Pike Place Market is a busy urban market that is an iconic tourist destination. The Gum Wall and Post Alley provide interesting urban street scenes, as well as great color and texture. Beyond the Market, Gum Wall, and Post Alley, your group may venture down to the waterfront. The waterfront boardwalk area is a lovely place for capturing scenic shots of the sky, cityscape, and the ferris wheel. Please note that there are many steps required to get from the market to the waterfront. There is a small elevator available. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to walk to Pike Place Market from the Westin, and the waterfront is an additional 10 minutes beyond the Market. To return to the Westin from the waterfront at the conclusion of the program (remember this walk is uphill), please budget 20-25 minutes.
